Epiphone
This guitar's original
owner traded it for a new acoustic because the strings were so high it was
almost impossible to play. I'd always wanted J-200, but couldn't really
justify the cost because I've never played a lot of acoustic guitar. This is an
early 70s Japanese Epiphone version of the J-200. I made it mine then proceeded
to repair the bridge and install a Martin Thinline pickup in it. It's not a
great guitar, but with fresh strings it records rather well, and as a stage
guitar it's pretty cool. The big body has a charisma and class all it's own, it
plays easily, and through a pre-amp it sounds nice live. The hardness of the
flame maple body and neck offset the huge body so it's not boomy at all. I
really love playing this guitar live. As you can see from looking at the top
it's been played a lot.
