This is another interesting mid 70s piece. I owned a 30 watt combo model when they first came out and was amazed at how loud that sucker was. Unfortunately the preamp design didn't allow a true clean/dirty channel combination. The way the controls interacted gave the amp a mild overdrive if the clean channel was clean, and if the distortion was up on the dirty channel then the other channel was mildly distorted. This model, the Rock and Roll 50 (great name) was a recent purchase. I love the fingerjointed oak woodwork and the cane grill. This amp has tubes in the preamp, with a solid state power amp. It's a bit of a one trick pony, but it does that one trick very loudly. The cabinet has two 12" Celestions in it for that trademark Celestion crunch. The controls on this model are a little better thought out than the 30 watt model was. Within it's limitations it sounds pretty good. And of course it's cool to look at. The only thing that worries me is where I'm going to find detented pots to reapair it when the time comes. As with our other equipment it gets used a lot.
